A Corvallis man was injured on a single-vehicle rollover accident on U.S. Highway 101 near Gardiner on Monday.

At about 8:50 p.m., Darryl G. Johnson, 24, was driving south in a 1998 Subaru Outback Wagon in heavy wind and rain when he lost control heading around a curve near milepost 202, according to an Oregon State Police press release. The Subaru left the road on the north side and rolled before landing on the driver’s side in a creek. Johnson was able to get himself out of the car and climb back to the highway, where he flagged down a passing driver.

No further information about whether Johnson sought medical treatment was  available at press time. No citations where issued.

I am the subject of this article. I found it pretty intriguing that within 12 hours of my accident there was another car flipped over and landing within 10 feet of my car. Here is the link to the accident:

Mast Bro's was the tow truck company that responded. They mentioned that at least 10 accidents occured at mile post 202. They mentioned it should have a guard rail, and that the oil from the new construction was to blame for the slick conditions, but also mentioned that this location was "job security" for them. They claimed that nobody had died at 202.

Why should ODOT or whoever wait until someone dies to finish construction here/fix this issue?

I am thinking about following up on this accident by talking with ODOT and finding out why there is a lack of concern. If anyone has been impacted or involved in similar accidents in this area it would be great to hear from you.

The accident occurred between Gardiner and Florence just north (with in sight) of milepost 202. Per the tow truck driver the road is slick with oil from paving. The next day a woman went off the road in the exact same spot. In checking on the internet there have been numerous accidents in this same spot in the last year. Nothing seems to be done about it at ODOT.

The story reports that the incident occured near Gardiner which is north of Reedsport, which is north of Coos Bay.

I'd be interested in knowing where the milepost you write about is located. Do you have a map or some way of finding out if it is north or south of Coos Bay, about how many miles, and what is the closest city. Think you can get this job done? If you can you'll beat out a heck of a lot of other media.
