Coos County
Deputies arrested a 24-year-old man Sunday on the outskirts of Coos Bay on a charge of failing to register as a sex offender.
According to a Coos County Sheriff’s Office press log, at about 2:30 p.m., deputies responded to a report that a wanted man was baby-sitting at 93702 Adams Lane. They arrested Justin N. Williams on the charge of failing to register as a sex offender and a probation violation. He was taken to Coos County jail, where he was being held without bail.
He was previously convicted of third-degree rape in 2003, according to a spokeswoman in the state courts office in Coquille.
North Bend
Police arrested a North Bend woman Sunday on an assault charge.
According to the North Bend police log, at about 4:29 p.m., an assault was reported at 1867 Monroe Ave. Officers arrested Anne Bettelyoun, 26, on a charge of fourth-degree domestic assault. She was taken to Coos County jail, where she was booked and posted bail.
They also arrested a 33-year-old man on an assault charge Saturday.
According to the press log, at about 8:30 p.m., officers responded to a report of an assault at 2220 16th St. They arrested Douglas Strebendt, of North Bend, on a charge of fourth-degree assault. He was taken to Coos County jail, where he was booked and later released.
Coos Bay
Police arrested a Myrtle Point man Friday on menacing and related charges.
According to the Coos Bay police log, at about 10:04 p.m., officers responded to a report of criminal trespassing at 975 S. Eighth St. They arrested William R. Hurst, 42, on charges including three counts of menacing, disorderly conduct and a probation violation.
He was taken to Coos County jail where he was being held this morning without bail.
