The 16th-annual See Jane Run, an all-woman run and walk that benefits the Coos County Women’s Safety and Resource Center, drew more than 50 runners and walkers to John Topits Park last Saturday.
The even, co-sponsored by the Women’s Safety and Resource Center and the South Coast Running Club, included a 5-kilometer run or walk and a non-competitive 1-mile walk.
The overall winner of the 5-kilometer event was Megan Scheirman of Coos Bay. She powered up and down the hilly course in 21 minutes, 48 seconds, the fastest time in the last three years and only 11 seconds off the 19-24 age-group record. Jennifer Stephens (24:36) and Josie Hayes (27:23), both of Coos Bay, were second and third.
Karyn Ogle of Coquille was the top masters woman, finishing eighth overall in 28:40. She was followed by Kim Aimone of North Bend (29:28) and Deb Lal of Coos Bay (30:16).
More than $950 in proceeds was donated to the Women’s Safety and Resource Center.
