A two-vehicle accident snarled traffic in downtown Coos Bay on Tuesday, though emergency responders didn’t need to take anyone to the hospital.
According to a Coos Bay police press release, at about 7 p.m., a 1993 Honda Accord and a 1995 Ford Explorer collided in front of the fire station at Fourth Street and Anderson Avenue.
Paramedics treated the driver of the Ford, Lena Navarro, 38, of North Bend, at the scene for minor injuries, the press release said. Three children in the Navarro’s SUV, all younger than 5 years old, weren’t properly seatbelted. Police cited Navarro with three counts of endangering a child passenger.
Officers also cited the Honda driver, Jazmine Young, 20, on a charge of making a dangerous left turn.
Police reported no other injuries and a towing company removed both vehicles. Officers stayed at the intersection for approximately an hour and a half to direct traffic flow and complete their investigation.
