Free lecture on Crater Lake geology Saturday

Southwestern Oregon Community College Geology professor Ron Metzger will give a free lecture on the geologic history of Oregon’s Crater Lake on Saturday.
The talk includes images and discussions of the eruption of Mount Mazama, which geologists say resulted in the formation of Crater Lake.

The talk starts at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 25, in Southwestern’s Hales Center for the Performing Arts, 1988 Newmark Ave.
For the past 13 years, Southwestern has facilitated a field trip to Crater Lake each fall term.
The lecture will include images taken from the field trips, as well as research Metzger took part in during 2006.
