Coos County District Attorney R. Paul Frasier dismissed sex abuse charges against a Coquille man Wednesday.

Lee E. Wallace, 37, had been charged with first-degree rape and first-degree unlawful sexual penetration after Coquille police arrested him Sunday.

According to a state courts spokeswoman, Frasier dropped the charges Wednesday and Wallace was subsequently released from custody. The spokeswoman’s records said the reason for dismissal was “best interest of justice.”

Frasier was unavailable for comment before press time.

GIVE ME A BREAK wrote on Nov 7, 2008 2:35 PM:

the truth is,, any girl can say she has been raped..if she has lied,, there are no consecuences for the LIAR. From my understandin.. isn't it a CRIME to make a false police report?? YES it is.. The accused are GUILTY until provin innocent. the falsely accused are the ones that have to pay the price mentally, emotionally, finanially & socially,,and pay to have their record esponged. I know..I'll leave it at that!

TO PAM wrote on Oct 16, 2008 10:54 AM:

Hey, he was NOT SENTENCED. He was accused, arrested and his reputation completely destroyed and THEN THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE to press charges. Someone is sentenced after they appear in court and are found guilty. Get your story staight.

If it had been a African-American or Hispanic male do you think Mr.Frasier would have dropped the charges. "NOT"!

you all sound like a lynch mob,if there was evidence to link him to the girl, what evidence caused the release? it should be accessable to clear the issue. feed the lurking blood suckers that love to point fingers. i'll bet their closets are full of skeletons.
coquille, home of the devils says it all.

And if she's lying what's happening to her?

My GOD people wrote on Oct 14, 2008 12:30 PM:

The female was lying for gods sake

Linda wrote on Oct 14, 2008 11:12 AM:

To Pam- what about the males that are falsly accused, or have to register just because they gave a girl a hickey and her Dad didn't like it, or you have a couple of sisters that seem to turn in evey guy. I taught my daughter morals and never to put herself in that kind of situation. I can't believe what some girls do. Then when it does happen no one beleives them.

Pam wrote on Oct 12, 2008 8:16 PM:

Linda (from) He's a Criminal -- if one is "sentenced", it's too late for the DA to drop charges. However, once an individual is charged and arrested, the negative mark remains on [his] record, regardless if found "not guilty'. So, while one is presumed innocent until proven guilty, [he] is treated guilty from the moment [his] fingerprints hit the system.
Justice should be priority in every case, from arrest to sentencing. Too many males are life-burdened with females' inabilities to deal with life, AND, too many females are life-burdened with males' inability to respect it. Somewhere in the mix, justice (not money, agendas, or manipulation) should to prevail.

soo sad... wrote on Oct 10, 2008 6:25 PM:

i think things need to be investigated amongst parties before any arrests are made in any case. just because she said he did, maybe they need to verify that first, before they arrest you... how would you like it if i said you raped me, and they arrested you, and it never happened... you would want them asking you first instead of just arresting you. i dont know either party, but i feel for both of them, guilty or not...

To he's a criminal - Evidently he isn't this time. Go back to where ever it is you came from, because if you think people don't get wrongly accused you have another thing coming. Want to borrow a pair of someones shoes who has?
Are you his keeper?

Look it up under SENTENCED not "guilty" last time I checked if you are sentenced to something you are guilty

Coos County is LAME wrote on Oct 9, 2008 2:33 PM:

So does this mean the DA's Office put back out on the streets another guy who may rape again??

Linda wrote on Oct 9, 2008 2:12 PM:

To He's a criminal- your key word was arrest, not,he was found "quilty". Get with the program. wm9u4

Just An Observer wrote on Oct 9, 2008 2:01 PM:

Sloppy police work? Lazy DA? Innocent man who avoided being railroaded? Frightened victim who refused to testify? Those were SERIOUS charges and a SERIOUS answer besides "Best interests of justice" needs to come forth if the law enforcement community including the DA's office expects public support.

Mr E wrote on Oct 9, 2008 1:32 PM:

I wonder if an accusation was made by a Coquille-area woman who is well-known for making false accusations of a similar nature (though usually domestic abuse, not rape)? For charges to be dropped this quickly, I assume SOMETHING came to light...

A bit Confused... wrote on Oct 9, 2008 1:26 PM:

So did this person really committed a crime or did new evidence come out that he did not do it?

I think the DA's office needs to be a bit more clear on this and why they all of a sudden drops all charges in a first-degree rape and first-degree unlawful sexual penetration???

What the....... wrote on Oct 9, 2008 1:17 PM:

"Oops" - a rape was't committed? "Sorry", it wasn't unlawful penetration? "Best interest of Justice" ?? Another case of the Court Jester in action. Yet another example to prove that the justice in Coos County is a joke.

everyman wrote on Oct 9, 2008 11:59 AM:

not fair...if you are going to publish his name and accusations, then give a more detailed explanation than "best interest of justice"...

he is a criminal wrote on Oct 9, 2008 11:29 AM:

I see this guy in the paper all the time for arrests and the docket. So he was already smeared. Sounds to me he needs to stop breaking the LAW.

Linda wrote on Oct 9, 2008 10:51 AM:

Oh yeah after his name gets smeared in the mud.
