The city of Coquille will host its annual fall yard cleanup from Oct. 7 through Oct. 28.

This service is limited to residents within the Coquille city limits. Pickups are for yard and garden trimmings only. No dirt, sod, garbage, metal, home remolding materials, etc., will be accepted.

All materials must be bagged, boxed or bundled in lengths not to exceed 36 inches and be placed in an easily accessible location at the curbside or along the driveway. There will be no exceptions to the limit of 10 bags, boxes or bundles per household each week.

To be put on the list for pickup service, call City Hall at 396-2115, ext. 205, and provide your name, address and phone number.

The city crew will pick up on Tuesday of each week. Requests for pickup must be made no later than 4 p.m. on the previous Monday. Calls received after 4 p.m. on Monday will not be picked up until Tuesday, one week later. Calls received after 4 p.m. on Oct. 27 will not receive pickup service by city personnel and other arrangements will have to be made.

Clueless In Coquille wrote on Sep 24, 2008 7:40 PM:

Even if our city fathers just attempt to keep old downtown Coquille clean - wouldn't that be wonderful!

We retired here years ago and can see how downtown has went downhill, and nastier, too. Walk around, oh say, close to Denny's - stinky. They have restrooms inside but somebody relieves themselves outside close to Barrows.

Anyway, good news! For the first time in a year the street sweeper came through our neighborhood and cleaned. It created a dust storm with rocks and pebbles flying up at our cars!!! Wow!

I guess Coquille is cleaning up . . .

They already cleaned out the police chief's office, maybe they'll clean out the city manager's office too..........

What a Shame wrote on Sep 12, 2008 8:24 AM:

If the city officials want to clean up the city, they should start with cleaning out City Hall. I have lived here for over 50 years, It used to be fairly clean everwhere, but not any more. nowwhen I walk or drive around town, no matter how you look at it, or what part of town you look in, you can see junk around the houses disabled vehicles, etc. and all the city has to do is inforce theircity ordiences, which they are not and the problem would be solved. What a total waste of taxpayer money. CLEAN OUT CITY HALL FIRST THEN WORRY ABOUT THE REST OF THE TOWN
