Classes teach managers rules on wages, records

Gold Beach
The Bureau of Labor and Industries is hosting a class for employers to learn more about wage and hour laws, through Southwestern Oregon Community College in Gold Beach.
The seminar will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 6, at the Gold Beach campus, 29392 Ellensberg. Topics will include meal and break periods, rest periods for nursing mothers to express milk, exempt and non-exempt employee classification, deductions, electronic payments, wage collection laws, travel and training time, minimum wage, restaurant employee meal periods and payroll issues.
Coos Bay
BOLI also is offering technical recordkeeping assistance for employers at Southwestern’s Coos Bay campus.
Recordkeeping Requirements will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday in Lakeview Room G, 1988 Newmark Ave. Topics will include tracking employee leave, record retention, employee performance documentation, medical files, employee’s right to view, payroll records and more.
Cost, information
The cost is $165 per attendee. Two to five attendees from an organization for cost $150 each and for six or more $140 each. Pre-registration is recommended.
