The Oregon Tourism Commission is sending a $10,000 grant to the Coos Bay/North Bend Visitor and Convention Bureau. The matching grants program supports new projects to improve local economies and communities by enhancing, expanding and promoting Oregon’s visitor industry.
The Convention Bureau will use the money to produce and market a meeting planner video and sales packet promoting the area’s convention capabilities.
“We couldn’t be more excited about this opportunity and we’re extremely grateful to Travel Oregon,” said Katherine Hoppe, director of promotions and conventions in a press release. “A state of the art convention packet is one of the primary goals of our organization and will help us attract more visitors.”
Other plans include forming a committee to assist in the planning of content and relevant materials.
“This project is about helping our entire area, not just those who offer convention space,” Hoppe said. “Conventions bring in visitors who may not have discovered our area on their own, they’ll add to the cities tax base, local businesses, our lodging properties, as well as the new United Express flights.”
