But, I'm speaking as a college graduate with some experience in business economics. It's rather clear that few in this area (especially in this Casino... I went to school with a couple individuals that are/were at management-level at the Mill) have such a background.

TMCH tried as much as they could to defray the loss. Sure management has their head in the wrong place sometimes, but neither should the monkeys be allowed to run the zoo. I am grateful to still be employeed whatever the capacity.
I will miss everyone who has been lost. We all wish that it had not come to this. We are family and will be no matter how far apart we get.

The Mill Casino gave me a great job and provided great health insurance for me and my kids and has paid me enough to live on. They have done this for MANY parents in this area that have struggles. So for that I am very thankful for The Mill Casino.
Yes the Mill Casino definitly needs some help in many areas but nobody is perfect and I hope they will work it out soon before many more lose there jobs, I know I would not be able to make it without my job.
To all of you who lost your positions: You will be missed... and to beverage server Vicky- Keep your head up girl, stay home, collect unemployment and enjoy your new baby.

Be thankful for all the tribe does for this area and trust me they do alot.
The negativity is stupid-if you don't like the mill so be it but dont blame the casino for you loosing money-You made the choice to go there and eat or gamble you were not forced.
As for the lay offs I am really sorry but reality check this is life and people are loosing jobs everywhere.Get off the casinos back and worry about real issues

If you really want to blame someone, blame those who voted for GW in 2000 and 2004. Blame those who are voting for McCain in 2008 so we can have more of this. Blame your own ignorance. The Mill Casino, Wal-Mart and any other business does not thrive if YOU do not support it.
If you want to put your money where your mouth is, quit spending your money gambling at the Casino and then shopping at Wal-Mart in order to purchase goods at a cheap price. Be part of the solution and spend your money supporting local small businesses. This is one way to take care of our own community!

To the people that say the casino has made addicts. If those people werent gambling here they would go to Florence or somewhere else, or be addicted to something else. It has to do with the people and lack of self control. A close friend of mine is an addict and has lost everything but he brought upon himself not the casino.

They should have seen this economic downturn 3 years ago when they started the expansion.
They should have anticipated that gas prices would go over $4 per gallon.
They should have anticipated that the housing market would take one of the steepest downturns in history.
They should have anticipated that our government would have had to pass a $700 billion bailout of our financial markets.
They should have seen all of this coming correct?
Give me a break people!

And in this bad economy nobody needs the MILL, to bad they don't just GO AWAY. They aren't needed here, it was the downfall of this town. Taking and taking from all the people who couldn't afford to gamble in the first place and causing a lot of addits of the poor old people who don't have anything else to do so they started gambling, and now can't quit. And THEY DON'T PAY ANYTHING OUT ON THEIR MACHINES. Everyone I know that likes to play slots are now going to Florence to gamble. If Florence quits paying out they will go to SPIRIT MOUNTAIN where they pay out much better....

I agree somewhat, however is this a bad thing? Look at all of civilization and tell me what has led to collapse. We know that the environment has played a huge factor, as well as leadership and its economical impact. All civilizations begin to decline at some point; it is inevitable. Sustainability only lasts so long.

Seven feathers beffet is 30% less and better quality. They also give daily BARGAIN SPECIALS. WEdnsday Spirit mountain has a great sea food buffet.
I would like to support the local Casino
NEED NEW management and an attitude

Try just being smarter wrote on Oct 2, 2008 4:36 PM:
Let's see, The Mill has been in business for over 13 years. The people running the operation have over a hundred years in combined casino management experience. Yet I'm sure you know far more than them when comes making these decisions. BINGO is a losing operation, period. As for food prices, look around town, everyone is raising their prices.
To Everyone else: You must either be ignorant, bigoted or just plain uneducated. The Mill Casino, and CEDCO, are valuable assets to this community. What would the unemployment rate be without those 500+ jobs? The Casino & Hotel expansion project was something that began a very long time ago, long before this economic collapse. Not only will it provide more lodging for the community, but it has the potential to draw many conventions to this area with its expanded banquet & meeting rooms. Greed? Yes, the Coquille Indian Tribe is so greedy that they have given out Millions of dollars to many local non-profits. As for management reaping the benefits from these layoffs, that doesn't even deserve a response.
Try running your business smarter wrote on Oct 2, 2008 2:26 PM:
1) Bring back cheaper food (You keep raisin the price), maybe locals will again eat in there?
2) Bring back Bingo, maybe locals will again play there, eat there, play slots there, play game tables again? They are now playing Bingo at several churches in the same area!
3) Bring back free roll Black Jack & Poker tourny's, that use to bring in OVER 50 ppl per tourny wanting to play & spend $$$ in your Casino!
4) Finally, make everyone use their players card to see what they are doing or playing in your casino, instead of guessing!
IF it wasn't for slot machine play...You would be OUT OF BUSINESS already...
