Police took three teenagers into custody and still are searching for another suspect today, following a fight at Marshfield High School on Wednesday.

At 9:45 a.m., the Coos Bay police school resource officer investigated a fight in which three students assaulted a 15-year-old boy at the front entrance of the main building between classes, according to a Coos Bay press release.

The officer located one 16-year-old suspect on campus just before noon. While being placed into custody, she struggled and attempted to run. She was apprehended on second-degree assault, third-degree assault, resisting arrest and third-degree escape and taken to the Juvenile Detention center.

Another student, a 17-year-old boy, will be referred to the Juvenile Department on charges of disorderly conduct and interfering with police when he tried to intervene with the girl’s arrest.

An officer located another 17-year-old boy in the area of Mingus Park at 6:37 p.m. and took him into custody on a third-degree assault charge. He was taken to the Juvenile Detention Center.

A third suspect, an 18-year-old Coos Bay man remains at large, but is not considered a danger to the community, police said.

The victim suffered minor injuries — swelling, cuts, and bruises during the assault. School staff provided first aid.

Marshfield Sr. High School used to have real men on campus...they were principals with principles, deans who understood discipline and teachers, who had an ounce of manhood.

We didn't need police (obviously with nothing better to do than demonstrate their latest training) to waste tax dollars on campus.

It's time taxpayers demand accountability .

Pitty on anyone sending their kids to good 'ol Marshfield High in this era..

To No Name- I totally understand, if your the principal, teacher, cop or attorneys kid you get to do pretty much whatever you want and it's top secret.

To No Name: I am sure thats the way it seems, I felt the same way when I was in school but if the school does not do anything there are always other steps to take.
I am also curious why didnt she tell her parents about the harrasment. Where were they and why didnt they go to the school to do something about it. If nothing else her parents should have been advicating for her and damanded something be done about it but for whatever reason they werent hhhmmm

Our school doesn't do anything unless it's for the kids that everybody knows and everyone likes, so even if they had went to the principle, nobody would have done anything.

Evidently the majority of these posts are from students themselves, if what you are saying is true, this is what I have heard also my problem with it is the fact that they chose to literally ratpack this kid ie. 4 on 1 not cool! Couldn't just one of you "big boys" come to the aid of the girl in distress? And why such violence? This is where it crosses the line, if the 15 yr old did indeed put his hands on her, she should have gone to the school and reported it, I know, I know no snitching but look what is happening now the girl is in some serious trouble the 15 yr old walks. If you other kids do know "things" that led up to this, you should come forward and talk to the police.

cops trying to hard wrote on Oct 7, 2008 6:42 AM:

ya it takes 1 small girl to take matters into her own hands @ school and it takes 2 cops to handle her it should only take one if they were able to use their head. look @ both sides of the picture. they had what was coming if they were picking on her.someone needs to change some rules if anything is gonna chage. GOOD GIRL.

Where's the rest of the story?
What about how the police officers abused the 16-year-old in front of the whole school?
What about all the bruises on her body, if the 15-year-old didn't hit her then who caused them?
She attacked the police officer after she tried to once again attack the poor boy
What about the reason why the "poor" 15-year-old was "assaulted"?
the reason he got attacked was because a boy asked him if she was available and he said yes but shes a lesbian
What about how the 15-year-old harassed the 16-year-old calling her all kinds of names?
he didnt call her all kinds of names
There's more to this story than what the school is saying, there are a lot of witnesses who are willing to talk.
so there you go!

I think its funny how nobody down at harding heard anything about this. If its such a big deal I think they would have been on every kid down at harding to see if any of them knew anything about it. dont you?

he did the right thing wrote on Oct 3, 2008 10:24 AM:

Not all girls think as girls. Some are so bent on proving they are as tough as a guy that they seek out fights with guys twice their size. That's unfair since any real man wouldn't hit a girl, which puts them in an awkward situation to say the least. Teaming up is even worse. No one deserves that, for any reason.

The truth will come out.

There are always two sides to each story. Let's look at the bigger picture.....

The Guy got what he deserved, if a guy decides to push around a girl that is smaller then him then he deserves to get beat up,

Again, there are no Police Reports for Coos Bay, North Bend, Coquille, or Bandon. WHAT'S THE PROBLEM?

Cora wrote on Oct 2, 2008 3:55 PM:

Use to be at NB if they seen someone having a problem, they'd put boxing gloves on them and let em go at it. Usually the big guy lost and didn't pull that crap again. KNow they say you are suppose to let them and just look for help. I say if someone was doing that to me, I'd be giving it all I got and then some. They wouldn't do it to me again. And to rest of the story -What constitutes to you 4 o 1?

Thugs wrote on Oct 2, 2008 1:27 PM:

I'd like to see those kids tussle with someone their own size. Sometimes a good thumping is what kids need, to heck with juvenile hall, it won't teach them anything. Send them to the streets, let them learn a real life lesson.

Best wishes to the victim.

Where is the rest of the story? Tell us the reason for the assault, just kids being bullies or maybe something serious?

Linda wrote on Oct 2, 2008 11:59 AM:

Oh boy some big toughies. 4 on 1 aren't to good of odds. Hope they get what they deserve.
