South Coast readers often have different preferences in reading material than those in other parts of the state and United States. Here are the top-five sellers this week at Winter River Books in Bandon, according to owner Johnna Hickox:

“The Story of Edgar Sawtelle” by David Wroblewski is the poignant coming of age saga of a mute boy who, aided by his special canine friends, attempts to unravel the mystery of his father’s death.

“Shack” by William Young pits a grieving father against God as he comes to terms with his daughter’s murder.

“Gallop” by Rufus Butler Seder is a fascinating “Scanimation” book featuring animals in motion.

“Brisingr” by Christopher Paolini is the young author’s final installment in his Inheritance trilogy.

“The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society” by Mary Ann Shaffer is an uplifting tale of Guernsey natives as they struggle to survive the brutal German occupation of their island during World War II.
