Then if you get hurt in their store do you really think they are going to do all they can to assist you or make it right with you? Nope, they leave you go like you are some kind of a liar.

She didn't actually steal anything. She was confronted before leaving the premises with the merchandise. Therefore, the question becomes whether or not she had intended to steal something. Both the DA and the OSP did not have sufficient evidence to support that claim. You should really think these things through before posting your rhetoric.

Did I call any of these actions to the store's attention? Nope, I think it has kind of evened itself out over the years.
Besides, maybe she saved enough to pay her share of the 700 billion.

Yeah, not one time have I ever went into that store and not been followed. It is a shame that they make a persons shopping trip a complete stressed out situation. My boyfriend and I just laugh, we have actually watched one of their "workers," security, or whatever they are standing on the shelves in the crafts department peeking through the little holes watching a person. Watching and waiting for what??? How do they choose who to follow??? I have noticed that the more kids you have and the way you look makes a big difference.I am not a thief,Pay for everything, but these workers
have had me so worried that they thought I had stole something I did not want to walk out the door.
It is ridiculous, I understand they have plenty of shoplifters, but they should put some focus on their employees. That's where some of the thieving is.

I never said I knowingly walked out without paying for items. I said *gets out crayons* "Pay attention Yvonne" "I dont check my 3 foot receipt. I "trust" the cashier has done their job" & "At least I am honest enough to state that mistakes do happen and if I catch it, I fix it". Pavlov's dog Yvonne, Pavlov's dog.

Well arent you the perfect little "honest shopper", so pretty and pristine with your lil shiny badge.
You too bright one have walked out of the store without paying for something, it happens.
At least I am honest enough to state that mistakes do happen and if I catch it, I fix it.
I went to a drive thru once, didnt get charged for a second pop. The next day I went back, I showed the receipt, attempted to pay for the pop that I didnt pay for the day before, the cashier, (bright one she was, could of even been you) handed me another pop. I explained to her that I didnt want another pop, I was paying for one I received a day before and didnt get charged for. She gave me the most puzzled look and handed me the pop. I set it back on the window sill and drove off. So see little perfect one, it does happen. Even to common "proud" thieves like me.

I went shopping with someone when I was a teenager (I was shopping for clothes they were in the food area) When we were done, she payed for her items as did I and we went out of the store. The undercover cop stopped her and we went to the back room. The moron tryed to say I was the "look out" I didnt even know were she was. The judge took one look at what happend and threw it out, the undercover people in the stores are not always that bright. I didnt even need to get a lawyer.
It's called they are trying to catch the moron thieves and make them pay more because they cant catch the people that more expensive items.

"The Register-Guard" reports that Ms. Howard earns $89.000 PLUS per year, and her paid leave has cost the city $7000.00.
This person obviously feels that she and her kids are entitled to dinner on Walmart. I wonder how many times and in how many places she has done this.
And consider the example she is setting for her children. The older ones, at least, would see and comprehend that mommy was not paying for her purchases. This is the most shameful aspect of all: The effect on her children of seeing their mother steal!

2. I've said it a million times and will continue to say it: don't/do NOT shop at walmart.
Dontcha wish you took my advice about shopping there?

also come on everybody has kids i guess all shoplifters should take them along and blame them for distracting them from paying..what a crock of BS if I ever heard one
also she put the potatoes in a bag she had paid for the other items so the kids wouldn't get into them..put them in the bottom of the cart or tell them to stay out of them..geez why don't parents make kids mind anymore?

AnneofOregon- They can scan it up at the register. They would of scanned the milk three times. I've seen them do it many times.
How many people get caught stealing at Walmart daily? How many are put in the paper?
Last summer my family and I were just walking in the doors at Walmart and two young teenagers came running out pushing a big, flat screen tv. The employee working at the door was trying to get them to stop. They just kept going. One employee who was getting carts started following them. By this time several employees and customers were watching them go through out the parking lot to their SUV. A manager for Walmart came running up yelling at the employee that was trying to stop them and get their plate number. She was saying, " Under no circumstances do you follow them in the parking lot. It's too much of a risk."
We were amazed at how easy it was for them. I never read it in the paper and I'm sure the tv was over $1000.00

Having hungry children distracting you is not an excuse for stealing merchandise from a store; and would not be a defense in court.
Not to mention the fact that it appears in the video that she deliberately hid the items in question among her already purchased items. A classic shoplifting technique used by thieves and hooligans all over the world.

If and when I get caught, I'd give you a sob story about how I'm "busy and distracted" and be home free.
It is hard for the general public to understand this, not being exposed to the criminal element on a daily basis, as most people see things through rose colored glasses, not wanting to believe that sometimes people you wouldn't expect, DO sometimes make bad judgements, sometimes criminal, and not everything is simply a "mistake."

According to the interview it's not until well afterwards, when he's pulling the things from the cart that she seems to "remember" about them and offers to pay for them.
There is a difference between being scatterbrained, distracted & forgetfull, and criminal behavior. I for one do not see this as being anything other than criminal behavior.
Do not allow the fact that this was $12 and she makes 80k cloud the issue. People who make even more, have stolen even less. Ever hear of Wynona Ryder?
(1)if you make 80k but have tons of bills/expenses, you can still be "poor" and living paycheck to paycheck.
(2) sometimes part of it is the "thrill" of getting away with it.

And honestly, if she isn't able to do shopping and pay for the items plus handling 3 kids, she is not qualified to perform properly in a job like the on e she had.
A finance director's job certainly includes multi-tasking, being distracted sometimes by employees, ringing phones and such, and making sure things are being paid. If she can't even do it in her private life, she is not qualified for a job like that.
