PORTLAND (AP) — Oregon National Guard Capt. Bruno Giancarlo Desolenni, an Oregon State University graduate, was among three people killed when a bomb ripped through their vehicle near Kandahar, Afghanistan, Saturday.

Giancarlo Desolenni, 32, was working with a counter-narcotics training team on their way to the Kandahar airfield, defense officials said.

He had served in Sinai, Egypt and Iraq and had been in Afghanistan for seven months.

Two interpreters also were killed and two other soldiers were wounded.

According to the Oregon governor’s office, he was at least the 108th person from Oregon or with close Oregon connections to die in Iraq or Afghanistan.

Survivors include his parents in Crescent City, Calif.
