Drivers navigating the streets of North Bend may find they need to take some temporary detours.

A Laskey-Clifton Corp. paving crew has begun two paving projects for the city. Work started Tuesday on two stretches of city streets, Newmark Avenue between Sherman Avenue and U.S. Highway 101, and on Broadway Avenue between the city line and Newmark Avenue.

Road workers will repave the streets at an estimated cost of $328,697, according to North Bend’s senior engineering coordinator Dave Berry. Berry said the contractor has until mid-December to complete the work, but is hoping to beat bad weather and finish the middle of next month. The streets being worked on will be closed to traffic Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., according to signs posted.
