A woman attempted to steal a car at gunpoint in Winchester Bay on Monday, according to the Douglas County sheriff’s log.

A taxi cab driver, from CB Cab, called 911 and told a dispatcher someone tried to steal her car. She told police a woman who was a passenger in her taxi pulled a gun and demanded the driver get out and hand over cash, police said. The woman apparently was unsuccessful in stealing the taxi.

Later a man reported a woman stole his car in the Winchester Bay area, but didn’t get far because it had a kill switch. A dispatcher said officers took someone into custody, but had no further information at press time. The investigation is ongoing.
