Marshfield’s girls soccer team dropped a tough 1-0 decision to visiting Lebanon on Saturday.
The Warriors got the only goal of the match in the 10th minute, when a Lebanon player took a shot that Marshfield goalkeeper Megan Meador stopped, but couldn’t control. Lebanon put in the rebound for the goal.
“It was a really hard-fought game,” said Marshfield coach Kitty DeMoss. “It was really equal and both teams played hard. The only thing we didn’t get done was putting the ball in the back of the net.”
Cassie Messerle stood out in the midfield, while Courtney Lanza had a strong game on defense and Meador made several outstanding saves, DeMoss said.
“The girls are playing hard,” she said. “I think as soon as they can get that first win under their belts things will open up for them.”
