The junior golf season at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort wrapped up on Aug. 31 as 22 local golfers played in the final tournament.
The event on the front nine of the Bandon Dunes course was one of four tournaments presented by the resort during the summer. Players ranged in age from 8 to 17 and were separated into four divisions.
For some players, the event marked the first time they had completed nine holes on a regulation course. To help the players, each group included an intern and a gallery of proud parents.
The interns are students who are working on their PGA Professional certification and working at the resort for six months as part of the professional golf management program through their university. Their job during the event was to be rules official, course guide and instructor on tournament golf and etiquette.
The tournament was complete with tee prizes, refreshments, a scoreboard, a longest-putt competition and an awards ceremony to honor the golfers. |
