Beware of runners this Saturday.
Coos Bay police will close the Profantaine Memorial Run route from 9:15 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday.
The route begins at the intersection of Anderson Avenue and Fourth Street, near the Coos Bay Fire Department downtown fire hall, and continues west on Anderson Avenue, Central Avenue, then onto Ocean Boulevard and ending at Norman Street.
The route then circles back on Ocean Boulevard, turning onto Central Avenue, then turns south on 10th Street, passing Blossom Gulch Elementary School, then turning east onto Elrod Street.
The route ends at the Marshfield High School track.
All area residents and visitors should be aware that for the safety of the runners, all drivers will be prohibited from entry to these streets between 9:15 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., and will need to use alternate routes, a Coos Bay police press release said. Coos Bay officers will be posted throughout the route, and will be available to assist the public, redirecting them to alternate routes as needed.
