A town hall meeting from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Sept. 25 at the South Slough Interpretive Center, 61907 Seven Devils Road, near Charleston will address livability issues facing Oregon.

Projections indicate that there will be nearly 2 million new Oregonians during the next several decades. The meetings are part of work being done by the Big Look Task Force, which was appointed in 2005 by Gov. Ted Kulongowski and the Oregon Legislature. The bipartisan task force consists of 10 individuals who were appointed to review Oregon’s state-wide land use system, and make recommendations for potentially changing the 35- year-old system currently in place.

Topics for discussion include building healthy rural and urban communities, preserving and enhancing Oregon’s best features, improving the way Oregon involves the public in making livability and land use decisions and creating a coordinated system for decision-making at state and local levels.

The meetings will be hosted by local, technical and Big Look Task Force members. For more information on how to get involved, visit www.oregonbiglook.org, or call John Evans at (541)373-0050, ext. 262.
