SALEM (AP) — A state commission is recommending raises of from 22 to 54 percent for some Oregon officials.

It calls for 39-percent increases for the state labor commissioner, secretary of state and superintendent of public instruction, taking those pay scales from $72,0000 a year to $100,000.

The attorney general’s pay scale would go up 54 percent to $119,000 and the salary for governor would go up 39 percent to $130,000

The commission was set up by the 2007 Legislature. The 2009 session will vote on the recommendations.

The last raises were five years ago.

The 11-member commission of state officials and voters looked at wages in comparable states and took their numbers from the middle of the pack. They found Oregon’s pay scales to be near the bottom.

Why do they need a pay raise. All most of them are doing now is OCCUPYIN SPACE.
If they had to Work for a living they would have to be on the State Welfare and have a hand full of food stamps. NO PAY RAISE UNTIL THEY PROVE TO THE VOTERS THAT THEY DESERVE IT.....AND THAT WON'T HAPPEN SOON..Thei is a total waste of tax payer money..What a Shame
