Rhonda Vincent is what some call a bluegrass prodigy and is considered an authentic voice of modern bluegrass.
Vincent will perform at 7 p.m. in Mingus Park on Tuesday. The bluegrass singer’s performance is part of Music on the Bay’s Starlight Concert Series.
The concert is part of Vincent’s tour for her album, “Good Thing Going.” A complete list of her national tour can be found on her Web site, http://www.rhondavincent.com.
Vincent has been the International Bluegrass Music Association’s female vocalist of the year for seven consecutive years, the site said.
Vincent, a singer and mandolin player, began her musical career in the late 1960s when she began singing in the family band, Sally Mountain Show, according to her public relations Web site, http://rhondapr.com. She made her Grand Ole Opry deput in October 1993.
Her music is influenced by her father Johnny Vincent and grandfather Bill Vincent, as well as Loretta Lynn. From these influences, Vincent creates a unique blend of bluegrass, swing and country.
