Oregon Coast Community Action is introducing a new initiative — Community Action Connect — to help local families obtain items or services.

How to become a member:

n Donate gift certificates redeemable in your store or business for items that will help those in need — such as food, clothes, hygiene products, transportation or gas.

n Or, donate funds to help the agency provide these services to those in need.

Businesses and organizations who establish a Community Action Connect membership before Oct. 15 will be recognized during the unveiling event on Oct. 22 during the Bay Area Chamber of Commerce’s international business operators luncheon.

To become a member: Checks should be made out to Oregon Coast Community Action, with “Connect” written on the memo line. Or, if donating certificates, indicate that they are for Connect. Send donations to Oregon Coast Community Action at 2110 Newmark Center, Coos Bay, OR 97420.

For information, call Emily Summerfield at 888-7171 or Hallie Winchell at 888-7108.

Donation policy information is available online at http://www.orcca.us.
