Cranberry Festival kicks off this weekend

Friday, September 12, 2008 |
Bandon celebrates it 62nd-annual Cranberry Festival this weekend.
Events are already under way with a quilt show and food fair/bazaar today. Local clergy were to bless the cranberry crop today as harvesting begins in the community that calls itself the “Cranberry Capital of the World.”
The food fair is being held at the VFW Hall on Bates Road. The Bandon Quilt Guild Quilt Show is at the Farwest Hall. Admission is $1.
On Saturday, the parade roars to a start at 10 a.m. in Old Town.
The food fair/bazaar continues and the festival market will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with entertainment all day. Cranberry Bowl games — Bandon vs. Yoncalla — are scheduled at 3 p.m. for junior varsity and 5 p.m. for varsity.
On Sunday, the festival continues from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
