College hires an interim CFO

Southwestern Oregon Community College has hired an interim chief fiscal officer.
Datatel Senior Financials Consultant Mike Ionno arrived on campus Tuesday and will be serving in the role until Southwestern fills the vice president of administrative services/CFO position, following Sheldon Meyer’s retirement. He was the vice president of administrative services.
Ionno has 11 years of higher education consulting experience, including nine with Datatel, and has worked with more than 150 different colleges in a financial capacity, a press release said. Ionno is a certified public accountant. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from the University of Maryland. He has more than seven years of graduate-level teaching experience in the accounting field. Ionno comes to Coos Bay from Maryland, where he is based in suburban Washington, D.C.
Datatel makes software that manages information about students, finances, financial aid, human resources and advancement.
