Firefighters rescue stranded boaters

Tuesday, September 09, 2008 |
North Bend firefighters rescued a man and a woman who were stranded Monday when their boat drifted out of the Marshfield Channel and got stuck on the shoreline.
Fire Chief Scott Graham said six firefighters responded in two of the department’s 30-foot fire boats. The firefighters helped dislodge the boat and then the couple motored back to the boat ramp, Graham said.
He said the firefighters briefly chatted with the couple, but didn’t get their names.
“They were very, very grateful we were there,” he said. “They couldn’t paddle or nothing. Basically, they would have been out there a long time.”
The firefighters got the call about 4:45 in the afternoon.
