Coos Bay police officers arrested a Nevada man wanted on possession of a controlled substance charge.

At approximately 2:15 p.m., on Saturday, Coos Bay police received a Coos Stop Crime tip, with information regarding a possible wanted person. The caller provided enough information to police to enable them to find the suspect, identified as 34-year-old Sun Valley, Nev. resident, John V. Murphy. Police found Murphy at 255 Kruse Ave., where he had been staying, and was taken into custody without incident.  Murphy was taken to the Coos County jail, where he remained this morning. Bail is set at $25,000.

Murphy was wanted on an Oregon State Police Medford warrant, stemming from an original charge of possession of a controlled substance.

Coos Bay

Police officers arrested a woman Saturday on theft and fraud charges.

At 1:16 p.m., officers went to 716 Jackson Ave. in Coos Bay, where they arrested Versa Smith, 24, on charges of second-degree theft by deception, second-degree theft and solicitation.

She was taken to Coos County jail, where she was released on citation.

Reedsport

Reedsport Police arrested a Coos Bay woman Saturday, on drug charges.

At about 10 a.m., officers received a report of a woman stealing property at 905 Doyle St. There, they arrested Tosha L. Langenberg, 34, on a charge of unlawful possession of methamphetamine. She was taken to the Reedsport jail and scheduled to be taken to the Douglas County jail in Roseburg.

Gold Beach

Curry County sheriff’s deputies arrested a Gold Beach man Sunday on burglary-related and drunken-driving charges. They arrested Edward G. Hunnicutt, 35, and took him to Curry County jail at about 7 p.m., where he was booked on charges of second-degree burglary, second-degree theft and two counts of driving under the influence of intoxicants. This morning, he was still in custody on $47,500 bail.
