I live in Mexico six months of the year, six months in Canada. Retired 'big city cop'. Two observations. 1) You look for trouble it will find you. 2) I can assure you that violence by authority figures anywhere in North America is a very real and probable outcome when the 'attitude test' is failed.

It is a sad thing when someone dies while in custody. It isn't anything that is desired by any police agency. However, when someone wants to fight back, they better be ready to suffer for all the verbal abuse stored on the cops. Once they lose their cool, it gets out of control quick. This rule doesn't just apply to cops either. I have worked with many Mexicans over the years and found them to be harder working than most of other races. They tend to be more honest and family oriented also. There are bad apples in all the races and to get technical, we are all from the same branch of the evolutionary tree. Officials are to blame not race. If the suspect was uncontrollabel and the officers had to subdue him by administering a beating then the next guidline they should have followed was if the suspect was injured badly to seek medical attention and not ignore the situation as if the job was done.

The fact is, it is becoming lethal being foreign in the US and consequently Americans are finding it difficult abroad.
For Americans who fancy being treated like a criminal, go to Brazil and be strip searched and have your mug shots taken.

Revenge on how Mexicans are treated here? They get Welfare, free medical, food stamps, all paid by the taxpayer. I think they get treated pretty damn good here.
