Roseburg Costco site faces new appeals

ROSEBURG (AP) — Two new appeals have been filed against a proposed Costco Wholesale site in Roseburg.

The appeals were filed by the attorney representing former Douglas County Commissioner Joyce Morgan.

Corrine Sherton, a land use attorney from Salem, filed a notice of intent to appeal with the Oregon Land Use Board of Appeals, and then filed a second notice to bolster the case.

The first notice said Morgan would challenge a Douglas County Planning Department pre-application worksheet approved last month for a 12-pump fueling station on an 18-acre site.

The second notice seeks a hearing before either the Planning Commission or an appointed hearings officer.

The notice claims that development of a Costco store will generate “significant and unplanned additional traffic.”
