Scotty Brown Trail Run will start at Mingus Park

The sixth-annual Scott Brown Memorial Run will be held on Saturday, Sept. 13, starting at 9 a.m. at Mingus Park in Coos Bay.
The run honors the memory of former South Coast Running Club member Scott Brown, and will follow one of his favorite trails, the Honyock Trail, behind Blossom Gulch School.
The first mile is a challenging uphill stretch, before the trail levels off. The trail is in good shape, but the grass likely will be wet, so runners should come expecting their shoes to get a little dirty.
As in past years, participants are reminded this event is not a race, and that visiting during the run is required. Event coordinator Roy Mollier said kids, women, dogs and old men are invited to take part.
There is no fee to participate and a social gathering will be held after the run, including refreshments.
