SHADY COVE (AP) — A 14-year-old boy in Southern Oregon has been cited for allegedly shooting and wounding a cougar before buying a hunting tag and killing it.
David Bernhardt was cited by the Oregon State Police on Monday, after a story about the cougar appeared in the Mail Tribune newspaper in Medford.
Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife records show Bernhardt bought his $11.50 cougar tag Saturday morning at a store in Shady Cove.
But police say he had already shot and wounded the big cat, and then went back to finish it off.
The hide and carcass were seized. |
