Big winds tips airplane to its side

Thursday, September 04, 2008 |
Strong gusts Wednesday afternoon caused a two-seat Cessna 150 aircraft to blow over at Southwest Oregon Regional Airport in North Bend around 3 p.m. The unoccupied aircraft received minor damage to one of its wings, said its owner, Joe Pedro, a manager at Coos Aviation.
“Yesterday, it was weird,” Pedro said on the phone this morning. “People were asking me if I had been in a crash. But the engine wasn’t able to run. There were no spark plugs in it.”
Pedro said the airplane was just outside a hangar where it was to be brought in for service when high winds swooped in and blew it over.
