Oregon State Police troopers are searching for the car and driver involved in a hit-and-run accident that killed a Harbor man Wednesday night on U.S. Highway 101 just south of Brookings.
An OSP press release today said Samuel C. Faranda was walking west across Highway 101 just north of Benham Lane at 11:25 p.m., when he was struck by a southbound vehicle. The driver continued driving south and never stopped.
An ambulance crew took Faranda to Sutter Coast Hospital in Crescent City, Calif., where the 21-year-old died early Thursday morning, the release said.
The vehicle and driver have not been located and OSP is asking for the public’s help in this case.
Witnesses and evidence at the scene indicated the vehicle was an unknown model white Ford sedan. The car should have front end, hood and grill damage.
Anyone with information regarding this vehicle and its driver is asked to call OSP Southern Command Center dispatch at (541) 664-4600. Lead investigators are Sgt. Punch and Trooper Paul Rushton.
Curry County sheriff’s deputies, Harbor Fire firefighters, and Cal-Or Ambulance and Life Flight crew assisted at the scene. |
