DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Pakistan (AP) — Pakistani intelligence officials say a missile strike is suspected in a blast that killed four people in a tribal region near Afghanistan.

Two intelligence officials said the explosion occurred earlier today in the village of Char Khel in North Waziristan. They spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to media.

Azeemullah Wazir, who lives in the area, said the explosion destroyed a house known to host foreigners. He said he heard three blasts and later saw Taliban militants surround the site.

The U.S. has been suspected in previous missile strikes in Pakistani territory. The blast occurred a day after a deadly and unusual American ground assault in South Waziristan.
