SALEM (AP) — The fire that damaged the governor’s office at the state Capitol last weekend has reopened talks about moving out of the building.

Gov. Ted Kulongoski said he favors relocating to a new executive office building.

He has kept a ceremonial office inside the Capitol for news conferences and bill signings, along with a small private office for meetings. Kulongoski said lawmakers will need the extra space if the Legislature moves to annual sessions.

State leaders are considering whether to repair the governor’s offices, remodel them, or move the governor and his staff out of the building permanently. Investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the fire.
