The Marshfield boys soccer team is introduced to the audience on Thursday evening. Earlier in the day, the Pirates competed in the Willamette jamboree in Eugene, described by coach Tony Preston as a positive learning experience. “We’re definitely coming away with the attitude that we’re a team that can compete,” he said. Marshfield’s fall sports teams were introduced to the school’s fans during the annual Meet the Pirates night Thursday at Pete Susick Stadium.
The soccer, volleyball, cross country, football, dance and cheer squads, as well as the Band of Pirates, were recognized on the field. Some of the teams also performed demonstrations or played in scrimmages.
The teams open the season over the coming days, with the football team visiting North Bend tonight in the annual Civil War and the boys soccer team traveling to face the Bulldogs on Tuesday, while the girls host Eagle Point. The volleyball team hosts Roseburg on Thursday, the same day the cross country team participates in the Thurston Invitational.

There were 17 coaches introduced for the combined Freshman, JV, and Varsity Football teams. If you combine the number for Volleyball, Cross Country, Soccer, Cheer, and Dance you come up with 14..... Why is that?
All 13 of the coaches that work with the JV and Varsity teams are paid positions, how many of the other sports have volunteer coaches?
The allocation of sunds to the sports programs at the schools need to be spread out among the sports not just focusing on one.
