The annual Ken Ware Classic featured two holes-in-one at Coos Country Club.

The popular two-man tournament was won by the duo of Jayme Berkowitz and Jason Humphrey, who combined to shoot a 129, winning by eight strokes. The tournament used a best-ball format both days.

Meanwhile, Greg Mulkey and Blaise Bedolla each recorded aces on the first day of the tournament, winning $500 merchandise prizes from tournament sponsor Ken Ware.

Bedolla’s hole-in-one came at the 114-yard sixth hole.

Mulkey had an ace at the 160-yard fourth hole. He used an 8-iron for his first hole-in-one in 30 years of golfing.

While Humphrey and Berkowitz posted the best overall score, the top net score in the A Flight was posted by Pat Anderson and Casey Weaver, with a 125.

In the B Flight, John O’Riordan and Richard Iverson had the top gross score with a 147, while Douglas Holcomb and Bedolla had the best net score with a 128.

In the C Flight, Charlie Johnson and Allan Painter combined for low-gross honors with a 151, while Brett Whittaker and Corey Sewall had the top net score with a 115.

The top four gross and net scores in each flight are listed in today’s Community Scoreboard.

Softball champions

Shinglehouse Auto & Salvage repeated as champion of the South Coast Softball Association’s men’s league, finishing the season with a 19-3 record.

That was one game better than Kelly’s Main Street Automart.

Kelly’s Main Street Automart won the championship in 2006.

Meanwhile, in the coed league, The Indians are well on their way to a fourth straight title, with an 18-0 record. The second place team, Farr’s True Value, also sponsored by Downtown Health & Fitness and The Old General Store, is 19-2.
