Woman hurt in ATV accident
Friday, August 29, 2008 10:37 AM PDT
A Seal Rock woman was injured in an ATV accident Tuesday in Winchester Bay near Banta Hill.
At about 11:30 a.m., Amanda E. Noble, 23, was riding on a dune just south of Banta Hill and didn’t realize it was a “razorback” dune, according to the Douglas County sheriff’s log.
A razorback looks like a normal dune from one side but has a hidden drop-off on the other.
When Noble rode off the dune, the 2008 Yamaha Raptor 700 she was riding rolled on top of her, causing possible broken bones, police said.
Noble was taken to Lower Umpqua Hospital, where she was treated and released, a hospital spokeswoman said this morning. |
