The Beachcombers Square Dance Club of Port Orford will host its annual Battle Rock Dance Weekend Friday through Saturday, Aug. 29 through Sept. 1. 

Dancers are expected from all over Oregon and several western states.  Featured caller for the dances will be Denny Lantz of Medford, and round dance cuers will be Donna Hiserote of Coos Bay and Dave Cooper of Prineville.

 Hiserote and Lantz will kick off the weekend with a casual dance beginning at 7:30 p.m. on Friday at the Beachcombers Cove, two miles north of Port Orford on Nicholson Drive. Dancing will continue at 7:30 on Saturday and Sunday nights, with the rounds being cued by Dave.

At 11 a.m.  Saturday, dancers will converge on the beach for an hour of dancing in the surf at Battle Rock state park.

 The club will have a fundraiser breakfast at the Cove from 8 to 11 a.m. Sunday, featuring ham, eggs and all-you-can-eat pancakes. The costs $6 for adults and $3 for children 10 and under.

The public can come out and watch the dancing each night.
