Agness plans summer extraveganza

Due to the high cost of fuel, Agness has combined all of its summer events into one Summer Extravaganza, beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 30.
The day will include:
* The Tomato Festival — prizes will be awarded for the biggest and most unusual tomato.
* The Agness-Illahe Volunteer Fire Department Steak Feed, featuring barbecue steak, corn on the cob, French bread, baked beans, coleslaw and pies from the pie baking contest.
* Sourdough Bake-off.
* A pie baking contest, with three categories: fruit, cream/chiffon and other.
* Horseshoe tournament — The winner will receive the Agness Cup. Starts at noon.
* Live music by Jefferson, under the Heidelberg Tree.
* Fun and games for children of all ages.
