Come on dog owners; pick up!

I just returned from taking my dog for a walk on the Coos Bay Boardwalk and around the city of Coos Bay as we do frequently. I am appalled to see the lack of pride in our area by other dog walkers.

Not only is there dog poop on the grass along the boardwalk, but also frequently on the paved walkway and the decking. There are three garbage receptacles in the boardwalk area and the plastic bags that can be carried for disposal of dog waste are free every time you shop at one of your local friendly merchants.

The city of Coos Bay just spent a lot of time and money putting new bark around the trees and shrubs around town. It looked really nice for a couple of days. Now, they are littered with dog waste as are the sidewalks.

Not a very welcoming sight for visitors to our area.

You know who you are! I wonder what your yard looks like — or do you just take your dog to your neighbors’ yards or around town to poop?
