Buy a home; don’t cheat government

Come on dog owners; pick up!
 I just returned from taking my dog for a walk on the Coos Bay Boardwalk and around the city of Coos Bay as we do frequently. I am appalled to see the lack of pride in our area by other dog walkers.

Religion invaded politics recently
Frosty West’s letter (The World, Aug. 21) darkly implying the “I Want to Know” questioner was influenced by godless communism is sheer demagoguery and needs to be addressed.

Republican tactics prey on fears
While I was walking at the Pony Village Mall, I overhead a disturbing conversation at the Republican voter registration table. One of the persons seated at the registration table said that Obama was scary. The other two persons agreed with that statement. I continued walking, but I felt like telling these jittery people that real Americans don’t run scared.

Don’t forget all the Youngs’ efforts
In light of recent events concerning discrepancies in the bookkeeping of the Oregon Coast Lab Band program, it is important that the community recognizes the merits of Greg and Patricia Young, lest their efforts be forgotten.
