The sun was shining recently when the Music On the Bay “mobsters” unveiled their poster for this year’s concerts at the Mingus Park stage.

But that sun won’t always be shining during the organizations September concerts in the amphitheater area. On Friday, the group announced its line-up for Tuesday night concerts in September. It also unveiled plans to build a cover for the stage.

So far, MOB has raised $84,000 and needs another $40,000 to build the permanent cover, according to board member Larry McCabe. He and other board members showed people attending the announcment an artist’s drawing of a proposed cover for the stage.

For each of the concerts, organizers set up a temporary canvas cover that shades only the stage. The new, permanent structure would be a little larger allowing the sound contractor to set up under the roof.

The fundraising posters, designed by local artist Dutch Mostert, will be on sale for $75 each at the concerts, which start Tuesday and will be held at 7 p.m. each week.

The Tuesday, Sept. 2  show will feature Zulu Dragon with special guests Sneakin’ Out. New Old Stock with Darol Anger will perform in the park on Sept. 9.

Then, on Sept. 16, Rhonda Vincent will perform followed by Cecilio & Kapono who will be on stage from Hawaii.

A special benefit for MOB is set for on Sept. 30 at The Mill Casino-Hotel with Liv Warfield and Mel Brown performing.
