The Chinook District of the Boy Scouts of America has finished another successful Cub Scout Day Camp. It is only through dedicated volunteers and community members that we can present such a wonderful experience for boys age 6-11 in Coos and Douglas counties.

We would like to thank Suzie Gibbs and Mike Accinelli for providing the leadership and planning the program at day camp. Appreciation is extended to Randal Gore, Katrina Ronk, Allen Sharrai, Denise Gore, Jeff Givens, Michelle Campbell, Joe Frischman, Liza Holland, Wendy Thompson, Richard McCollister, Tina  Hallmark, Francine Kelsay and Eric Stallings for being den leaders.

Connie Coffman, Dennis Borgens, Bracken Nelson, Lori Paxton, Everett Brakensiek, and Robert Newman for being fantastic and fun station leaders.

Also, Tom Henry and Rich Chambers from the U.S. Coast Guard for being our waterfront support; and R.N. Chris Borgens for providing medical support. Great assistance was given by our den chiefs and teen helpers Andrea Alvarez, Thom Hallmark, Nick Alvarez, Michael Middendorff, Ian Thompson, Michael Loper, Shunta Sumikawa, Kevin Accinelli and Brittney Loper.

Thank you also to Dale Wills, Pacific Power guy Mike; Bill Coplin and the Tioga Mountain Men; Gene Clark and his assistants with the Coos County Sheriff’s Posse; Kyle Givens; and Gene Davenport Redhawk and his assistant, Pat Turner;  John Nelson, Dick Morana, Eric Luckman, Debbie Huff, Kathy and Charlie Barber, Bill Thompson, David Hanna; and many parents who provided helping hands.

Our gratitude goes to Ranger Jerry Smith and Ranger Aide Thea Hangaard who worked to make Tugman State Park accessible for our camp.

Thank you to all those business and individuals who gave financial assistance to the Cub Scout campers who needed financial assistance.

We look forward to another successful Cub Camp in the summer 2009.
