The activities schedule for the 2008-2009 sports season is now available at the Boys & Girls Club of Southwestern Oregon.
Procedures for signing up for sports have changed. All players will be placed on teams once fees have been paid.
Schedules are available at the club office, Mingus Park and North Bend pools, Coos Bay and North Bend libraries, North Bend Lanes, Big 5 Sporting Goods, Books by the Bay, Video & More and Blockbuster Video.
Punt, Pass & Kick
The NFL Pepsi Punt, Pass & Kick competition will be held on Sunday, Sept. 14.
The free event starts at 1 p.m. at Marshfield High School. The competition is hosted by the Boys & Girls Club of Southwestern Oregon and is available for all boys and girls ages 8 to 15 as of Dec. 31, 2008.
All competitors will punt, pass and kick the football for distance and accuracy. First-place finishers will advance to the sectional competition.
Pre-registration is encouraged at the club office, 3333 Walnut Ave., in Coos Bay.

Pre Run for Kids
The Boys & Girls Club’s Pre Run for Kids will be held on Sept. 21.
The 3-mile race starts in downtown Coos Bay at 1:30 p.m. and is open to all boys and girls in grades 1 through 8.
The registration fee, which includes a T-shirt, is $15 through Sept. 8. After that, registration, which does not include a shirt, is $10.
The first three finishers in each age division receive medals.
The race, sponsored by Pepsi Cola, BNT Promotional Products and Columbia Distributing Company, follows a 3-mile course in Coos Bay.

Volunteer coaches needed
Volunteer coaches are needed for the Boys & Girls Club’s fall soccer and flag football seasons. Coaches should have a background in the sport and an interest in working with kids.
Teams are available at all levels — first through sixth grade for fall soccer and third through sixth for flag football.

Any boys and girls who missed the registration period for fall soccer and flag football and would like to participate should call the Boys & Girls Club’s sports director, Karen Bauder, at 267-6573.
