Brookings begins reservoir project

Friday, August 22, 2008 |
The city of Brookings will be in the process of constructing a new 1.6-million gallon water storage reservoir/tank and associated piping on its property and within the road right-of-way on Seacrest Lane and Glenwood Drive starting on Monday. This project has been in the planning process for the past 15-plus years.
During the course of construction, approximately nine months, the contractor will be working from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. There will be an estimated 3,600 dump truck loads of material, both haul-off and haul-in on U.S. Highway 101, Glenwood Drive and Seacrest Lane road system. The first phase will be the reservoir site work, the second phase will be the associated piping in the roadbed of Seacrest Lane.
The construction has been a much needed component of the water system for quite some time. Brookings officials asks that residents have patience during the construction phase and those who have questions, call John Cowan, public works director, or Richard Christensen, public works inspector at 469-1151.
