Final revival

The revival at Bay Area Bible Baptist Church concludes at 7 p.m. Friday. The guest speaker at the revival is evangelist Hal Hightower, who was pastor of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Lebanon, Mo. for nearly 15 years before becoming a full-time evangelist.

The church is at 14th and Oak streets in North Bend.

Healing nerves

Dr. John Partmann of the Alternative Healing Center will be the guest speaker at a meeting sponsored by Bree’s Upscale Resale in Coquille at 10 a.m. Saturday, at Frazier’s Bakery, 23 East First St., Coquille.

Partmann has been a chiropractor for 33 years.

He will discuss the human nervous system and how proper nerve supply can restore healing.

Cheesy creation

The Coos County Extension Service Family Food Educator volunteers will be conducting a community workshop in August on making cheese.  

On Saturday, a cheese making workshop on soft cheeses will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Myrtle Point Extension office, 631 Alder St.  This class will offer basic cheese making.

Wines of the Umpqua

An afternoon of wine tasting will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Evergreen Court Independent Retirement, 3959 Sheridan Ave., North Bend.

Wines from the Umpqua Valley will be paired with specialty foods prepared by Evergreen Court’s executive court.

Hot auction

The Elkton Community Education Center will present its Hot Umpqua Nights Art Auction in conjunction with the opening of the second-annual Elkton Quilt show, Saturday at the ECEC site, 15850 Highway 38 West, Elkton.

The evening will begin with a reception at 4 p.m. hosted by the Elkton quilters.

Donated art works to be auctioned can be viewed from 4 to 6:30 p.m.  Bidding  starts at 6:30 p.m.  

The quilt show, sponsored by River’s Edge Winery, will be open at the ECEC Greenhouse from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.  A donation of $2 will benefit the reconstruction of historic Fort Umpqua.

Christian drama

The Covenant Players will be at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 2250 16th St., North Bend,  during the 5:30 p.m. Eucharist Celebration on Saturday.

The group is an international repertory theater company. Three actors will perform a mini Christian drama.

Irish revenge

Molly’s Revenge will bring their version of traditional Irish and Scottish music to the Pistol River Friendship Hall at 8 p.m. Saturday.

Back-to-school

This month’s Clifford’s Dream Giveaway, a monthly clothes giveaway at the Lakeside Lions Club, will be a back-to-school giveaway, Sunday through Thursday, Aug. 24 to 28.

It will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, and from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday and Thursday.

Organizers plan to have clothing, school supplies and lunch supplies.

Donations are being taken. Needed items include school supplies, backpacks, lunchboxes, hygiene supplies and lunch supplies.
