MEDFORD (AP) — An Eagle Point man wounded by a sheriff’s deputy during a February standoff has pleaded not guilty to attempted aggravated murder and five other charges.

Dan Waggoner appeared in a wheelchair at his arraignment Tuesday in Jackson County Circuit Court.

Deputies responded to Waggoner’s home after getting a 9-1-1 call from the mother of three of Waggoner’s children. The woman said Waggoner had loaded firearms in the home, had fired a shot and was threatening suicide.

A sheriff’s deputy shot Waggoner five times during the standoff, critically injuring him. In March, a grand jury deliberated for less than 15 minutes before deciding the deputy was justified.

Samuel, How would you have dealt with this same issue if you had been in their shoes? It doesn't tell the whole story and I have to agree with you there. The grand jury said he was justified, so hopefully there is no more about it.

You know, I don't know the story behind this article but I have got a feeling that this is not as it seems. I sure hope the Sheriff's Dept in Jackson County were correct in their actions though...Things said can be misunderstood and then issues such as this can rise up out of the middle of it.
