Packing it in

Airlines are now charging for everything from extra bags to that bag of peanuts. AAA Travel expert Anne McAlpin will be in Coos Bay giving her “Pack It Up” workshop from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, at the AAA Coos Bay Service Center, 1705 Ocean Blvd., Suite B.

She can help travelers have fun and safe trips, despite all of the rules and fees that seem to change by the day.

Some of her tips to avoiding excess baggage fees include: If checking luggage, be sure to weigh the bag before going to the airport, according to a press release.

McAlpin also can address questions about security: Can you bring along a water bottle or your morning latte’? And just what is the 3-1-1 rule for carry-ons?

More information about how to travel and pack can be found at AAA Web site at http://www.aaaorid.com/travel/packingworkshop.asp or at McAlpin’s Web site at  http://www.packitup.com.
