GREENSBORO, N.C. — Carl Pettersson won his adopted hometown event for his first PGA Tour victory in two years, shooting a 2-under 68 for a two-stroke victory in the Wyndham Championship.
The local favorite, former North Carolina State player and member of the tournament’s board had three birdies during a four-hole stretch on the back nine, finished at 21-under 259 and earned $918,000.
Hull takes Canadian
OTTAWA — Australia’s Katherine Hull won the Canadian Women’s Open for her first LPGA Tour title, taking advantage of Yani Tseng’s final-round meltdown for a one-stroke victory at Ottawa Hunt.
The 26-year-old Hull, six strokes behind Tseng at the start of the round, shot a 3-under 69 to finish at 11-under 277. Se Ri Pak closed with a 72 to finish second, and Tseng’s 77 left her two strokes behind at 9 under.
Funk wins JELD-WEN
SUNRIVER — Fred Funk won the JELD-WEN Tradition for his first Champions Tour major, closing with a 3-under 69 for three-stroke victory over Mike Goodes at the Crosswater Club.
The 52-year-old Funk, also the winner of the season-opening MasterCard Championship in Hawaii, had a 19-under 269 total.

Gibbs to face sanctions
BROOKLYN, Mich. — The two Joe Gibbs Racing cars that have dominated the Nationwide Series this season likely will face stiff NASCAR sanctions after team members were caught deliberately trying to mask the horsepower in their powerful engines.
NASCAR inspectors found magnets under the gas pedals of the No. 18 and No. 20 Toyota’s when the cars were sent to the chassis dyno following Saturday’s race at Michigan International Speedway. Tony Stewart finished third in the No. 20 in his final Nationwide race for JGR, and Joey Logano was seventh in the No. 18.
Schumacher wins again
MOHNTON, Pa. — Tony Schumacher raced to his fifth straight Top Fuel victory and 10th of the season Sunday, beating Larry Dixon with a 3.845-second run at 313.88 mph in the Toyo Tires NHRA Nationals.

76ers sign Iguodala
PHILADELPHIA — The Philadelphia 76ers re-signed Andre Iguodala, giving the forward a six-year contract worth a reported $80 million.
Iguodala, who was a restricted free agent, helped the 76ers reach the playoffs for the first time in three years.

SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — Matamoros, Mexico, pitcher Jesus Sauceda had the fifth perfect game in Little League World Series history and the first in 29 years when he struck out all 12 batters in a 12-0 win over Emilia, Italy. The game went four innings instead of the usual six because of Little League’s 10-run mercy rule.

WASHINGTON — Juan Martin del Potro won his fourth straight tournament, beating Viktor Troicki 6-3, 6-3 to take the Legg Mason Tennis Classic championship. The 19-year-old, ranked No. 19 in the world, has won his last 19 matches since June 25, when he was bounced from Wimbledon in the second round.
Petrova dominates Dechy
MASON, Ohio — Second-seeded Nadia Petrova dominated unseeded Nathalie Dechy, 6-2, 6-1, to win the Western and Southern Financial Groups Women’s Open.
Petrova, who reached the quarterfinals at Wimbledon this year, clinched the win with a forehand return on her second match point to earn her first championship since the 2007 Tier II Paris indoor tournament.

NEWPORT, R.I. — Pat Cash beat Jim Courier 6-3, 6-4 to win the Hall of Fame Champions Cup title.
Cash, the 1987 Wimbledon winner, earned his first tournament victory on the Outback Champions Series, the tennis circuit for champion tennis players 30 and over. Courier was beaten on the day he turned 38.
Magnus Larsson defeated Mal Washington 6-4, 6-4 in the third-place match.
